Web Coordinator

SLM Media Group, publisher of St. Louis Magazine and St. Louis AT HOME, is looking for a detail-oriented and self-motivated Web architect to assist with enhancing and maintaining Web properties such as websites, Web applications, social-media content, analytics data, e-commerce systems, and email marketing. The candidate will play a lead role in performing day-to-day activities, ensure internal and external clients have a positive experience, and solve business problems to meet goals and/or increase productivity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write and edit XHTML, CSS, jQuery, Smarty, XML, PHP, and MySQL code.
  • Build custom pages and microsites with and without design guidelines from the art department.
  • Conceptualize, develop and maintain new and existing PHP Web applications.
  • Retrieve and analyze data from Google Analytics.
  • Enter, schedule, and maintain daily deal offers and send client reports.
  • Manage city and restaurant business directories.
  • Interact with APIs from FoxyCart, Mad Mimi, Vimeo, etc.
  • Be aware of technology changes and make recommendations as needed.
  • Coordinate with the marketing, sales, and circulation departments on upcoming projects.

Technical Requirements

  • Author code using a text editor and not rely on IDEs.
  • Experienced with writing valid XHTML and CSS.
  • Some experience with writing jQuery and XML code.
  • Knowledge of a server-side language, such as PHP.
  • Debug and trace existing code from other developers.
  • Ensure browser compatibility, e.g., with Firefox, IE, Chrome, and Safari.
  • Familiar with APIs and able to learn from technical documentation.
  • Access and utilize data from Google Analytics.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or 2-3 years of prior experience.
